Paul Bremner is a research fellow in the Bristol Robotics Laboratory at the University of the West of England. His research interests are in social human-robot interaction, particularly non-verbal communication. He has a PhD on gestures in human-robot interaction from the University of the West of England.
Within Being There his focus has been on developing and testing tele-operated robot proxies for embodied remote interaction: a humanoid robot that replicates a persons head and arm movements. His work encompasses both the technical aspects of developing the system (software development and hardware integration), and experimental studies to investigate how it can be used and its potential for aiding communication.
